pH directly governs which nutrients are available for plant uptake. In a hydroponic system running at the correct pH range of 5.5 to 6.5, all essential elements remain soluble and accessible to the root system. When pH drops below this range, certain elements become unavailable regardless of what is in the nutrient solution, a condition commonly referred to as nutrient lockout, and plant performance suffers as a result.

Nutrifield pH Up is a potassium hydroxide-based solution used to correct pH that has drifted too low, raising it back into the optimal range quickly and accurately. Potassium hydroxide is the preferred active ingredient for pH correction in hydroponic systems as it contributes potassium to the solution rather than sodium, avoiding unnecessary salt accumulation in the root zone over time.

Always dilute before adding to the reservoir: add a small measured volume to water first, then introduce the diluted solution gradually to the reservoir while testing pH frequently until the target range is reached. Larger reservoirs will require proportionally more solution. Handle with care as this product is caustic and can cause burns on contact with skin or eyes.
