Water quality has a direct and often underestimated impact on nutrient performance, particularly when growing in coco coir. Soft water and reverse osmosis water both have very low EC and minimal calcium and magnesium content, which creates a complex chemistry problem in coco: the medium's cation exchange capacity actively draws calcium and magnesium out of the solution before the plant can access them, causing deficiency even when the nutrient solution appears correctly formulated. Overcorrecting with raw calcium supplementation disrupts the balance of other cation elements, reducing potassium availability in the process. Canna CalMag Agent is formulated to address this precisely, raising EC and providing balanced calcium and magnesium in a form matched to what coco cultivation requires.

The product also functions as a pH stabiliser, helping buffer the solution once the initial pH is set. A key caution: pH will initially drop after adding CalMag Agent before rising over the following 24 to 48 hours. Allow this buffering process to complete before making further pH adjustments rather than overcorrecting immediately after mixing. For optimal results, the target water EC before nutrients is 0.4 mS/cm2. Soft water below this threshold should be treated with CalMag Agent before introducing base nutrients and additives.

Add nutrients to the reservoir first, then additives, and add CalMag Agent last. Wait 24 to 48 hours before adjusting pH after mixing. Dose rate: 5 to 10 ml per 10 litres depending on water quality and softness. Formulated for use on Canna Coco substrate.
