In-built safety features
Plant-safe pH management
The versatile and hard-working Bluelab pH Controller Connect M has a number of features that have been designed to put the safety of your plants first.
You can set discreet visual high and low alarms for your preferred pH targets; these alarms will let you know whenever your pH is out of range. To help keep your plants safe from excessive doses, dosing will not occur whenever your controller is in alarm mode.
What’s more, you can set and customise dosing on- and off-times in the settings, which allows for effective mixing before the next dose, ensuring that you never overshoot your pH adjustments.
Bluelab pH Controller Connect M maintenance
Increase range with the Connect Range Extender 2
While no calibration is required for temperature, you will need to calibrate your controller’s pH probe on a regular basis. Stock up on everything you need to clean, maintain and calibrate your probes by purchasing a Bluelab Probe Care Kit.
Working within a large growing facility? Use the Bluelab Connect Range Extender 2 to boost your wireless range, sending your Bluelab Connect data even further.
When you team up the Bluelab Connect Range Extender 2 with the Bluelab Connect Stick, you can increase the range between Bluelab Connect devices and your computer by up to four times.
pH Controller Feed Solution; General Dilution Guidelines.
This is a step-by-step general guide for diluting the initial pH up and pH down fluid for your hydroponics system using pH Controllers.
- Understand the Controller: Familiarise yourself with the features and functions of your controller. This will ensure you make the most out of its capabilities and understand how to operate it effectively.
- Gather Materials: Collect all necessary materials for the dilution process, including the concentrated pH up and pH down fluids, distilled water, measuring cups or beakers, and a stirring rod or spoon.
- Determine Dilution Ratio: Some pumps are much faster than others. Adequate dilution is crucial for controlling pH level changes effectively. It is a trial-and-error process to find the correct level of dilution of solution to feed into your controller. You will need to determine the dilution rate in a test reservoir with nutrients added. You want to avoid precipitation, or drastic changes in pH by the controller. Different solution concentrations will require different dilution rates. Larger reservoirs will require lower dilution rates.
- Prepare Workspace: Set up a clean and spacious workspace where you can safely handle the fluids and perform the dilution process without any risk of contamination.
- Measure Fluids: Using a measuring cup or beaker, carefully measure out the required amount of concentrate pH up or pH down fluid and water. Pour the measured amount into a clean container designated for dilution, mixing thoroughly.
- Test: Commence operation of the pH controller, and watch the variation in the pH on the controller (possibly accompany it with using your pH meter) to check the pH level of the solution. Ensure that the dilution of the source controller fluid is adequate so that wild swings in pH are not experienced. The pH up or pH down fluid must be moved in small enough increments so that the desired pH level is achieved without harming the plants with large fluctuations in pH, and so that the precipitation is avoided.
- Record: After you have established the correct dilution ratio for your system and your pH adjustment fluid, record the initial dilution of the controller pH fluid, and the size of the adjustments made by the controller in the reservoir when it varies the pH. This data will help you to track and maintain consistency in your hydroponic controller's pH levels.
- Label Solution: Label the diluted solution clearly with the date of dilution, the type of fluid (pH up or pH down), and the dilution ratio used. This will prevent confusion and ensure you use the correct solution when adjusting pH levels in your hydroponic system.
- Store Properly: Store the diluted solutions in tightly sealed containers away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to maintain their effectiveness over time.
By following these steps, you can effectively dilute the initial pH up and pH down fluids for your hydroponics system using your pH Controller, ensuring precise control over pH levels for optimal plant growth.
