The sensing electrode of a pH probe relies on a hydrated gel layer to generate the electrical signal that produces a reading; once this layer dries, the response is permanently impaired. KCl storage solution maintains the hydration and ionic balance of the probe's reference junction and sensing membrane between uses, preserving both response speed and long-term measurement accuracy.

Bluelab KCl Storage Solution is manufactured to laboratory standards specifically for use with Bluelab pH probes and pens. Add solution to the probe cap after every use and rehydrate the probe in storage solution monthly, even if it has been stored correctly. Probes kept in storage solution consistently will outlast those that are not by a significant margin.
