Cucumeris - Sachets (Pack Of 50)
Target pest: Thrips (especially Western flower thrips)
Cucumeris, scientifically known as Amblyseius cucumeris, is a widely used predatory mite renowned for its effectiveness in controlling thrips populations, particularly Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis), in greenhouse, indoor, and protected cropping environments. This mite is an essential biological control agent due to its ability to establish quickly and sustain itself on low prey densities, making it ideal for both preventative and curative applications.
Cucumeris actively preys on all immature thrips stages, including larvae and pupae, which are responsible for most plant damage. Additionally, it feeds on pollen and other small arthropods, which supports its survival during periods of low thrips abundance, ensuring a persistent presence in the crop. This resilience allows for early establishment and continuous suppression of thrips populations.
Operating best at temperatures between 18–28°C and moderate humidity levels, Cucumeris thrives in a variety of crops, including ornamentals, vegetables, and fruiting plants. It is compatible with many IPM programs and can be integrated with other beneficial organisms and selective pesticides.
Key technical details:
Optimal performance occurs between 18 and 28°C, with moderate humidity.
Feeds primarily on thrips larvae but can survive on pollen and alternative prey.
The reproductive cycle completes in roughly one to two weeks under ideal conditions.
Provides continuous pest suppression by establishing a self-sustaining population.
Application rate:
Apply 5 to 10 mites per m² preventatively or curatively, increasing release rates in response to higher thrips populations. Releases can be repeated every one to two weeks until control is achieved. Introduce mites early in the crop cycle to maximise their impact.
