Californicus, known scientifically as Neoseiulus californicus, is a robust and adaptable predatory mite widely used for controlling spider mites, including the notorious two-spotted spider mite, as well as other small arthropod pests such as thrips larvae and broad mites. Its resilience and broad prey range make it a cornerstone in integrated pest management (IPM) programs across various cropping systems.

This species thrives in warmer conditions, with optimal performance between 20 and 30°C, and tolerates lower humidity levels better than many other predatory mites. Californicus is particularly valued for its ability to survive and maintain control in drier environments where spider mites tend to flourish.

Californicus preys on all life stages of spider mites, disrupting reproduction and population growth. It also consumes other pests, contributing to overall crop health and reducing the need for chemical interventions. Its capacity to adapt to different environments and prey availability makes it ideal for both preventive and curative releases.
