Hanna GroLine pH Dosing System + Tubing Kit HI981412-00

Maintaining the correct pH of plant soil or hydroponic nutrient solution is an ongoing task. Macro and micro nutrients, as well as calcium and magnesium bloom boosters, require the correct pH for absorption into the plants root system.

pH Dosing System is part of Hanna Instruments Groline family and features a pH controller with a peristaltic dosing pump and a process sensor and dosing tubing

The HI-981412 Groline pH Dosing System, easily assimilates into a nutrient/fertiliser system for soil and hydroponics.

It precisely monitors the pH using the HI-10063 pH/temperature probe and simultaneously controls the addition of acid or base (Up and Down reagents) using On/Off or proportional control to fine tune and maintain the optimum pH.

Growers can define the ideal set point for pH. The HI-981412 is a small dosing controller and can be easily setup for a stand-alone nutrient reservoir or be part of a modular control scheme with the HI-981413 Groline Nutrient Dosing controller.

To obtain a representative sample pH, the probe should be located at a spot that experiences good circulation. The probe can be used in a “sample pot” or reservoir or installed in a flow cell or re-circulation line. Perfect for drain-to-waste or recirculating systems.

pH Controller Feed Solution; General Dilution Guidelines.

This is a step-by-step general guide for diluting the initial pH up and pH down fluid for your hydroponics system using pH Controllers.

  1. Understand the Controller: Familiarise yourself with the features and functions of your controller. This will ensure you make the most out of its capabilities and understand how to operate it effectively.
  2. Gather Materials: Collect all necessary materials for the dilution process, including the concentrated pH up and pH down fluids, distilled water, measuring cups or beakers, and a stirring rod or spoon.
  3. Determine Dilution Ratio: Some pumps are much faster than others. Adequate dilution is crucial for controlling pH level changes effectively. It is a trial-and-error process to find the correct level of dilution of solution to feed into your controller. You will need to determine the dilution rate in a test reservoir with nutrients added. You want to avoid precipitation, or drastic changes in pH by the controller. Different solution concentrations will require different dilution rates. Larger reservoirs will require lower dilution rates.
  4. Prepare Workspace: Set up a clean and spacious workspace where you can safely handle the fluids and perform the dilution process without any risk of contamination.
  5. Measure Fluids: Using a measuring cup or beaker, carefully measure out the required amount of concentrate pH up or pH down fluid and water. Pour the measured amount into a clean container designated for dilution, mixing thoroughly.
  6. Test: Commence operation of the pH controller, and watch the variation in the pH on the controller (possibly accompany it with using your pH meter) to check the pH level of the solution. Ensure that the dilution of the source controller fluid is adequate so that wild swings in pH are not experienced. The pH up or pH down fluid must be moved in small enough increments so that the desired pH level is achieved without harming the plants with large fluctuations in pH, and so that the precipitation is avoided.
  7. Record: After you have established the correct dilution ratio for your system and your pH adjustment fluid, record the initial dilution of the controller pH fluid, and the size of the adjustments made by the controller in the reservoir when it varies the pH. This data will help you to track and maintain consistency in your hydroponic controller's pH levels.
  8. Label Solution: Label the diluted solution clearly with the date of dilution, the type of fluid (pH up or pH down), and the dilution ratio used. This will prevent confusion and ensure you use the correct solution when adjusting pH levels in your hydroponic system.
  9. Store Properly: Store the diluted solutions in tightly sealed containers away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to maintain their effectiveness over time.

By following these steps, you can effectively dilute the initial pH up and pH down fluids for your hydroponics system using your Hyalite pH Controller, ensuring precise control over pH levels for optimal plant growth.
